Description

The default programming of feminism in our culture is fueling a nationwide epidemic—an epidemic that is exploding marriages and decimating families.

Time after time, the deadly alliance of the white knight and the reviling wife has played itself out, leaving much devastation in its wake.

The cast of characters:

The Husband: Bludgeoned and punished by his wife’s reckless words and emotional manipulation, the husband is actually an upright man.

Despite accusation, he has tried desperately to be kind, gentle,  and humble enough to convince his wife to respect him. He loves his wife and children and doesn’t know what to do to save his marriage.

The White Knight: Bravely rescuing damsels in distress, the modern pastor defends her against many imagined dragons of misogyny and “abuse.”

He is willfully blind to the sins of the wife—after all, only dragons confront women, right? And everyone knows that women hardly ever sin compared to men.

The Reviling Wife: Rebellious, recalcitrant, cruel, unforgiving, and unrepentant, she refuses even the simplest forms of submission to her husband. She has traded respect for reviling, domination for submission.

Over time, she even turns the children against their own father, permanently and tragically severing relationships.

1 review for White Knights And Reviling Wives (Hardcover)

A must-read for husbands and pastors!! This book tackles the sins that ought not be named: the sins of women. This book will either reveal how unchecked your wife's sins are, or reveal how wonderful your wife is (which was my case). However, I have known men who have/had a "reviling wife" and this book, impressively, describes those women perfectly. Brian Sauve's contribution in the foreword is great, and Dr. David Edgington did not disappoint in thoroughly discussing: feminism, patriarchy, marriage, sins of women, sins of men, bad pastors, the good marriage, etc.

A word of caution: if your pastors are White Knights, and you will know by the time you finish the book, keep your thoughts on this book private until you're ready to 1) challenge them or 2) leave. Untimely sharing of this book and its contents could be catastrophic for your family or marriage.
Which leads me to my critique of the book: Pastor Edgington is correct in his diagnosis of the reviling wife. However, in this book, he gives some examples of when he called a wife/woman to repent and it obviously did not go over well. At times, men were left by their wives, and families were broken up. Rebuking a sinfully reviling wife at the height of her pride will often not result in repentance, but in further wrath from the unregenerate woman. A woman who is THIS sinful and THIS evil (as the book rightfully describes) should be dealt with Christian serpent-like shrewdness, which, at times, means not an upfront rebuke in the first counselling session (see the book's content for examples).

Overall, I highly recommend this book. I think every pastor should read it. Every pastor has feminists in their church, and many pastors are feminists (they just don't know it!)
As the book says, "you don't hate feminism enough."

This is a very valuable resource for men and the church. I will be having my sons read it when they begin to be interested in girls. I hope they will use it and the countless Scripture verses quoted and expounded upon within the pages to guide them in choosing a wife.
